First version. Placeholder scaffolding, not a legal instrument.
Document
PLACEHOLDER — THIS DOCUMENT STATES NO TERMS AND BINDS NOBODY.
It is engineering scaffolding, seeded so that Pack & Kin Studio's versioning and acceptance machinery can be built, tested and operated before the real text exists. It has not been drafted or reviewed by a lawyer. Nothing in it is a representation, a warranty, a limitation of liability, or a grant or reservation of any right.
The reviewed text will be published as a NEW VERSION of this same document. This version will remain readable at its own permanent address so that any acceptance recorded against it can still be produced.
Privacy Notice for Store Customers
For a customer of a Pack & Kin member store: what the store's software vendor does with your data, and who to ask about it.
WHOSE TERMS A WALK-IN CUSTOMER ACCEPTS — THE DECISION, RECORDED.
The store's. When you buy something, ship a parcel or rent a mailbox at a Pack & Kin member store, your agreement is with THAT STORE. It is the store's sale, the store's counter, and the store's terms.
Pack & Kin is the store's software vendor. We process your data on the store's instructions so the store can serve you, and this notice explains what that means. It is published for you to read; you are not asked to agree to it at the counter, because we are not the party you are dealing with.
Two consequences worth stating plainly:
- Ask the store first. Requests about your data go to the store that holds the record. The store can produce a copy of what it holds and can erase it; the procedure and the identity check are in 'docs/subject-access.md'.
- A store that publishes its OWN terms of sale through Pack & Kin Studio can do so as a store-owned document on this same machinery, and a customer's acceptance of it is recorded against that store. No store-authored document is seeded and no counter or kiosk flow captures one yet — see the app's reference doc for the open question this leaves for counsel.
